First class aesthetics and usability delivered by Levanta

Redlands Mazda’s brand new dealership workshop has recently opened in Capalaba, complete with a first-class fitout from Levanta.

Built on a greenfield site, the new 20 bay workshop is a considerable upgrade on the business’s previous 12 bay layout.

Redlands Mazda first had their new building designed by architect, before engaging Levanta to assess the space and work out the best workshop fitout.

With the workshop visible to customers, the overall look and feel was extremely important to Redland Mazda. They didn’t want ugly exposed oil and air pipework to be visible to casual observers.

Levanta’s design meant this pipework was hidden behind benches or Colourbond steel out of sight, with no oil lines hanging from the ceiling.

Efficiency and productivity were the other key requirements of the new fitout. To minimise the amount of time technicians spend away from their work bays, the setup included “1 between 2” oil consoles for mechanics to reduce the need for running around to hand pump oil; along with “1 between 2” computers rather than the old system of a single computer for the entire workshop. Redland Mazda’s technicians can now stay at their work benches with everything they need at their fingertips.

The fitout included the installation of two Quick Smart Bays – a new innovation for Redlands Mazda.

One welcome suggestion from Levanta was the installation of Dura workshop furniture throughout the fitout. “Initially we weren’t considering installing workshop furniture – all our technicians used to have their own tool boxes,” said David Grice. “Now though, with the Dura furniture we have a uniform look throughout the entire workshop.”

A seamless workshop fitout process from beginning to end

Redlands Mazda’s FOP David Grice said, “We told Levanta what we looking for with hoists, car throughput and the like.”

“From there, Levanta’s team designed the workshop layout and vehicle flow,” he said.

Mr Grice said he was impressed with how smoothly the Levanta team completed the project. “There were two of us involved in managing the project, each with 33 years and more industry experience,” he said. “Between us we have pretty extensive industry knowledge – yet still there were little things Levanta did that we hadn’t thought of.”

Not only was Levanta’s estimate to complete the work the cheapest, their service and efficiency were exemplary, Mr Grice said.

“What really blew me away was the guys who came out and installed and oversaw the fitout,” he said. “You couldn’t get a better bunch of blokes – they were helpful and easy to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble.”

Levanta’s team completed the work to a very high standard, Mr Grice said. “The workshop is clean and neat; you could say it’s the ‘perfect fitout’ really.”

“There was no need for ‘call backs’ as so often happens with trades to get it done right,” he said. “We’re very happy with the result.”
