Audi Alto Central Coast

Designing and building the ideal workshop fitout

When Audi Alto Central Coast created their brand new, full service dealership, their goal was to, ‘combine flawless design, technology and luxury’. To ensure their new workshop fitout reflected this ethos, they looked to Levanta.

We spoke to George Severino, Group Dealer Principal for Audi Alto Central Coast about the new workshop fitout, and how Levanta helped design and build the ideal end result.

A one-stop-shop for a complete workshop fitout

Levanta’s ability to design and supply the entire workshop fitout was a major factor in their selection to complete the Audi project.

“The workshop fitout industry is so fragmented,” said Mr Severino. “A lot of suppliers just aren’t able to supply every piece of equipment we needed. Levanta were able to do that for us.”

Audi Alto’s new 11 bay workshop features products from across Levanta’s range, from 2 post hoists, in-ground scissor lifts, and knuckle lifts; right through to oil storage and piping, air compressors and impressive Dura workshop benches.

“Going with just one supplier helped make the process far more efficient,” George Severino said. “Because Levanta were responsible for the entire project, we found they were more accountable, they worked better with our builder, and delivered a quality job.”

Designed around the need for workshop efficiency

As with any modern dealership workshop, ensuring an efficient workflow was a primary goal for Audi Alto’s fitout.

Levanta’s experienced team delivered a workshop design with every work bay laid out efficiently, taking into account WH&S needs, and with the most effective allocation of equipment (such as compressed air and oil reels) between bays.

Of course, meeting an OEM’s Corporate Identity requirements is a big part of any new workshop design. The Levanta team worked closely with Audi’s CI guidelines to ensure the finished workshop would be fully compliant. Levanta were also able to supply and install the specified European Dura workshop furniture, at a comparable price to local alternatives.

Another advantage of a modern, efficient, and well-appointed workshop is its appeal, not only to customers, but to current and potential employees too. Audi Alto Central Coast looks for the most skilled and qualified technicians to join their team. And such high quality employees are more likely to be attracted by the right working environment.

Dominelli Group – Kirrawee NSW

Creating a state-of-the-art workshop fitout for Dominelli Group

How Levanta designed & built a turn-key workshop solution

In late 2016, Dominelli Group in Sydney developed new state-of-the-art showrooms and service centres for both their Ford and Renault dealerships. As one of the first dealerships in Australia that would meet new Corporate Identity requirements for each marque, Dominelli Group wanted an impressive new workshop fitout that would present their brand and business to great effect. They turned to Levanta for assistance.

We spoke to Adam Dominelli, CEO of Dominelli Group, to get his impressions of Levanta’s workshop fitout process, and to find out how Levanta created this impressive new cutting-edge facility.

Communication the key to a smooth experience

After Dominelli Group conceived the idea for a new fitout, they began the search for a supplier with the capability they needed. In an initial meeting with Levanta, they knew they had found what they were looking for.

From the start, Dominelli Group were impressed by Levanta’s open communication and proactive approach. “You ask a lot of questions during such a project and Levanta had the answers. Any time we wanted a meeting to discuss our project, Levanta were happy to oblige,” said Mr Dominelli.

Levanta’s design team went to work to create the ideal workshop fitout for Dominelli Group’s requirements. They delivered a complete design package including floor plans, sketches, and architectural layouts to ensure the client was kept completely up-to-speed.

“Levanta have a good reputation in the industry and from our experience it’s well deserved,” Adam said. “The whole team is always very obliging – nothing’s too much trouble.”

“When you invest a lot of money, you want to feel as though you’re appreciated. I certainly got that impression with Levanta.”

The advantage of a comprehensive workshop fitout supplier

“One of the things that drew us to Levanta was the fact that, like Dominelli Group, they are a family owned and run business,” Adam said. “Yet they have the capability to deliver the complete package we needed.”

A major consideration for the project was the need to meet brand new Corporate Identity requirements for Ford and Renault. Dominelli Group found that Levanta were well versed in working within such guidelines.

“Levanta aim to be a true long-term partner with our business, and that’s what we found,” Mr Dominelli said. “They go the extra mile.”

As a turn-key workshop fitout, the project encompassed everything from car hoists and knuckle lifts to wheel alignment and tyre fitting equipment, workshop benches, and even a floor washing machine.

“There’s not one item in our workshop that was supplied by anyone else,” Mr Dominelli said. “It’s very helpful to get everything from one supplier on a project of this scale.”

“Thanks to Levanta’s capability for delivering the entire workshop fitout, I’d say we had a much smoother experience than if we’d chosen to use multiple different suppliers.”

Jaguar Land Rover – Hunter NSW

New dealership fitout for Hunter Jaguar Land Rover

New dealership fitout for Hunter Jaguar Land Rover

After previous working relationships with other dealerships, Levanta were called upon to help design a workshop to meet Jaguar Land Rover’s Corporate Identity within an existing building.

The fitout included BendPak two post hoists and a BendPak 4 post hoist, which were colour coded to perfectly meet the Jaguar Land Rover Corporate Identity colours.

Levanta installed oil tanks, pumps, pipework and metred guns throughout the workshop.

A key component of the fitout was the Dura workshop furniture from the UK, a high quality element of the Jaguar Land Rover Corporate Identity. This furniture provides stunning aesthetics as well as functionality and workshop efficiencies.

Jaguar Land Rover Gold Coast

Jaguar Land Rover Gold Coast

Modern fitout meets Corporate Identity standards

Levanta recently completed a new state-of-the-art service facility for Jaguar Land Rover Gold Coast, who were relocating their workshop while remaining in the Southport area.

Jaguar Land Rover consistently deliver service to the highest standards, and they wanted to reflect that in their fitout — both for visiting customers and to attract high quality employees.

The addition of Dura workshop furniture ensured they met Jaguar Land Rover’s Corporate Identity specifications. The furniture included integrated computer screens for a seamless, cohesive and highly professional look.

Roll-out cabinets ensure that all tools are immediately to hand for each technician, improving efficiency and helping to facilitate the workshop’s all-important vehicle throughput.

Levanta’s workshop fitout extended to the smallest details – right down to the waste bins.

One major feature was an integrated oil delivery system built right into the Dura furniture. It gives Jaguar Land Rover’s technicians access to two different grades of oil, water, and compressed air, directly where they’re needed.

Lastly, as part of the drive to increase efficiency the workshop’s two manual wash bays were also upgraded. Overhead boom arms ensure that hoses aren’t dragged across customers’ paintwork, and the pressure washers themselves are mounted on the walls for better safety and access.

Rockingham Mazda

A fully integrated workshop for Rockingham Mazda

Levanta recently completed a major new workshop fitout for the Rockingham Mazda dealership, situated 40km south of Perth in WA. The new dealership features a 28 bay workshop, designed to meet not only the dealership’s current needs, but also to provide sufficient capacity for projected business growth.

Close working partnership yields results

Rockingham Mazda’s architect designed the workshop layout and bay sizes, before Levanta’s WA Manager Alex Sharpe got involved in the project from an early stage.

The Levanta team then contributed to the final design, allocating the correct width for each bay based on hoist specs and the placement of equipment for the most efficient, safe operation – and the best vehicle throughput.

The close working relationship gave him a deep understanding of their specific needs, from the site layout right through to fully integrating equipment with Mazda’s Corporate Image (CI).

Levanta went to work installing an impressive array of the latest workshop equipment, including both 2 post and 4 post hoists that were custom-coloured in an attractive gun metal grey colour to meet Mazda’s Corporate Identity requirements.

In fact, so striking were they that BendPak in the United States decided to change from their previous default royal blue hoist colour, and supply all future hoists in a similar gun metal grey.

Cutting edge wheel service equipment

One important requirement for Rockingham Mazda was ensuring their new fitout included a state-of-the-art wheel alignment capability. It was part of their strategy of attracting only the best employees for their dealership.

“Our aim was to be a leader in offering wheel alignment services, ” said Doug Kerr from Rockingham Mazda. “We want to attract staff who pride themselves on doing good work – and we knew that providing the best equipment would help with that goal.”

Levanta met this need by installing a BendPak 4 post wheel alignment hoist and HPA C-1000 iNext 8 CCD wheel alignment system. The fast and precise C-1000 means that more alignments can be done each day, with compromising on accuracy.

The new dealership features a 28 bay workshop, designed to meet not only the dealership’s current needs, but also to provide sufficient capacity for projected business growth.

Quick service bays provide outstanding service

Being able to provide excellent customer service was a prime requirement of the project. With this in mind, Rockingham Mazda installed two dedicated Quick Service Bays in their new fitout.

The Quick Service Bays allow customers to have their car serviced while they wait, enjoy a coffee, and relax in the lounge. The workshop layout even allows customers to see their car being serviced – all part of a great customer experience.

Levanta also designed and installed a fully reticulated distribution system for accurate and efficient delivery of oil, water, and air. The Matrix oil monitoring system can be pre-set for each vehicle being serviced, allowing Rockingham Mazda to accurately record when lubricants are dispensed and correctly invoice them to customers.

Melville Mazda

New fitout for Melville Mazda doubles workshop capacity

When Melville Mazda needed a workshop fitout partner for their brand new underground service centre, they turned to Levanta.

With a passion for providing superior service and quality to their customers, they looked for a workshop provider that could deliver a result that reflected their ethos.

Melville Mazda’s Dealer Principal Greg Dean said, “We wanted to get away from the ‘tool boxes with stickers’ stereotype of dealership workshops. Instead, we were looking for a crisp, clean fitout that we’d be proud to show off to our customers.”

Levanta’s workshop fitout team went to work, and soon impressed Greg with their approach. “Levanta put a lot of thought into how it would all work,” Greg said. “They kept us updated with timeframes so we knew what to expect and work to.”

A comprehensive fitout design process

Melville Mazda needed to increase the number of available service bays, yet the site’s constraints meant there was no capacity for a larger floor plan on the same level.

The solution was to excavate some 20,000 m3 of sand to extend the workshop underground. This huge undertaking necessitated a total rebuild of the workshop over a 2 year build process.

Working with a completely new layout, Melville Mazda’s fitout incorporated every aspect of a modern dealership workshop. Levanta provided workshop furniture, a racking storage system for spare parts, and a full exhaust extraction system.

“One big advantage of going with Levanta was that they really are a ‘one stop shop’,” said Greg. “Not having to go all over the place to source different equipment made the project run much more smoothly.”

With 17 service bays, the new layout has more than doubled the previous capacity of Melville Mazda’s workshop.

Attention to detail on show with Quick Service Bays

Melville Mazda wanted a fitout that would facilitate their commitment to excellence in customer service and support.

One way they did this was by incorporating three Quick Service Bays complete with scissor lifts, to provide efficient and rapid servicing for customers while they wait.

A fisheye camera allows customers to watch their cars being serviced from the comfort of a fully appointed waiting room, complete with top-of-the-line coffee machine!

Another innovation focused on customer service was their ‘see it now’ video system. It shows Melville Mazda’s customers the exact part (such as brake pads) that’s being replaced, so that they can see and understand the work they’re approving.

Flexible approach leads to a successful outcome

Melville Mazda were delighted with the way their new workshop fitout came together.

“We definitely relied on Levanta for a successful outcome,” said Greg Dean. “We told them what we wanted to achieve to make it all flow, and they came back with proposed setup.”

With the workshop fitout complete, Greg says he was impressed by Levanta’s expertise, the quality of their work, and the way the team knew what they were doing. He felt confident knowing he was in good hands.

“On a project of this scale, little hiccups always happen – you expect that,” said Greg. “It’s how your suppliers respond that counts.”

“Levanta were flexible when they needed to be, making some slight alterations to keep the project moving,” Greg said. “We put our heads together and came up with a solution that worked.”
